Instead of making Barrington Martin the nominee, they chose some insider with an application process that makes Brian Kemp look fair.
Barrington Martin ran against Lewis in the primary, you know, while Lewis was still alive. Also, Lewis should not have died in Congress because we need term limits, and people that old don’t belong in congress. None of this should negate his legacy, though.
Here’s a tweet from Barrington Martin:

Term limits on both sides of Congress would be excellent. 2-term per House and/or Senate. Would stop the current swamp of 20+ year veterans from both parties. Our Congress needs new infusions to stay saner. What we have now is a mess.
How about Candace Owens to replace John Lewis? /j

It is just amazing the chairwoman of the Democratic Party got the nomination.

If they did something like this for my district & I was 25, I should’ve thrown my name in there.
I’m surprised it was only 131 names.

Right, but it still should’ve gone to the only other person who actually ran. Martin was the only democrat to run against Lewis.
If there were other challengers besides Martin, then it should’ve gone to whoever came in second place.

I think the biggere question is why the party is treated a branch of the government and the decision doesn’t go back to the constituents. i look at my parents and I think anyone over 70 should be ineligible for reelection. I have an aunt that was sharp as a tack into her late 80s, but odds are there is serious decline for most

Your term limits are your vote. Vote him out in the primary. Missouri has term limits. It makes for a total shit show. Where by the time a rep finally gets a bill through process for a vote, they've termed out. To guarantee the bill works, superpacs give them bills. Superpacs from out of state with big campaign finance money for that reps next office run. Or guarantees of consult work after. Look for the negatives when thinking of a positive fix. How would it affect the whole picture.
